During this podcast, Kubrick Principal Consultant Jason Thomson and Business Development Rep at Databricks Femi Akintoye discuss the topic of racial bias in machine learning, drawing upon their own experiences, as well as how having sufficient representation and role models are essential to inspire and nurture the next generation.

Machine Learning applies data science algorithms to solve practical real-world problems using structured and unstructured datasets, including price prediction, image classification, and sentiment analysis. However, minority groups often struggle to use tools that rely on machine learning technology due to the lack of minority group representation within data and tech.

The reasoning behind the lack of representation involves a combinations of factors, predominantly being the barrier at entry level from both an external recruitment and internal environmental standpoint.
