Prior to joining Kubrick, I was studying Economics and Politics at university. There, I realised that gaining skills in technology would be a key asset when joining the workforce after graduation since the nature of businesses was changing rapidly.
So many new jobs are being created and I wanted my career to be a part of this change. I was attracted to Kubrick because of their mission to close the technology skills gap and make a real difference. In my research into their values on their website, I saw how they wanted to push against barriers to get more women in tech and be as diverse as possible. Additionally, I was very impressed by their growth as a company since their inception and I was very intrigued by their business model and how they had found a way to fill the demand of data and tech consultants.
Since joining, Kubrick has helped me develop my skills through a hands-on and heuristic approach, enabling me to develop both my soft and technical skills. The trainers are super friendly and are always available if you have any questions or need additional help. On top of this, Kubrick has instilled in me the importance of my own personal brand, and I have managed to expand my network through LinkedIn.
So far, I’m most proud of the achievements I made in the SQL and Python projects we were given whilst in the training lab. We had the opportunity to take a real-world business problem and morph it into a solution, developing my technical skills through in-depth data analysis and data visualisation, whilst also enhancing my soft skills through practicing business analysis and presenting to a panel of stakeholders.
I’ve already recommended Kubrick to my friends that are interested in data and technology, especially as Kubrick provides such a high-quality level of training. Don’t be put off if you have a degree that isn’t data or technology focused - if you are passionate about finding solutions and solving challenges, then with the right mindset, a data and technology career would be perfect for you.
