How we solved Vodafone’s emerging skills gap
Vodafone partnered with Kubrick to embed long-term technical capability and solve the pressing issues blocking their future transformation.
In the midst of transformation, Vodafone needed immediate access to technical capability whilst assessing their scope for longer-term change. They required a flexible yet highly skilled solution to meet their expanding business needs without incurring the cost of traditional consultancies or contractors, which would leave with the IP.
Kubrick offered access to both onsite consultants, who could embed within their technical teams for long-term, sustainable delivery and development, as well as a team of senior consultants to undertake their short-term, exploratory projects. With low overheads, in-house selection and training, and the flexibility to manage blended teams of young professionals with experienced consultants, Kubrick delivered a range of solutions and capabilities tailored to the specific needs of Vodafone with IP and skills they could keep.
The onsite data engineers implemented and improved data pipelines and models to power natural language call steering. Their revolutionary machine learning technology transformed Vodafone’s customer care capabilities to save c. £1.4 million a year. Meanwhile, Kubrick’s in-house project team provided two unique solutions to design and productionise a proof of concept: a managed team of 20 junior consultants identified and quantified Vodafone’s emerging skills gap in the workforce in a highly cost-effective, two-week sprint, whilst a blended team of data management, data science, and data product delivery consultants created a workforce planning solution to accelerate Vodafone’s transformation at a fraction of the cost of traditional consultancies.
