The challenge

As a historic global leader in investment and asset management, Schroders realised the power of next-generation technology to revolutionise the speed, precision, and reliability of their world-class services and stay ahead of the competition. They needed to rapidly build their teams with the skills to execute and advance their data, AI, and cloud capabilities in order to redefine their operations across the business. To keep up with the pace of change, Schroders’ leadership were challenged not only to bridge their widening skills gap but find and onboard resource whilst facing highly pressurised capacity and managerial bandwidth amidst accelerated timelines and demand for technological transformation.

The solution

Schroders began building their Data Insights team with Kubrick in 2017. Since then, they have utilised consultants from across all our practices in data, AI, and cloud technology to advance their capabilities across the business, including Operations, Cyber Security, Quantitative Private Equity, ESG, and Compliance. As Schroders have increased investment in next-generation technology, Kubrick have scaled their provision of consultants to deliver a highly cost-effective alternative to traditional consultancies whilst creating a reliable means of acquiring talent by retaining our consultants as full-time employees.

The Kubrick Alumni who have already become FTEs at Schroders are now working throughout their global divisions to continue driving change whilst accessing ongoing leadership and development opportunities through the Kubrick Alumni network. In addition to utilising Kubrick onsite consultants for long-term team augmentation, Schroders have engaged Kubrick’s unique offering of blended squads to access the technical and commercial expertise of our senior consultants, who lead onsite consultants to alleviate managerial bandwidth and onboard junior consultants whilst delivering cutting-edge solutions.

The results

Kubrick have deployed over 50 consultants to bolster Schroders’ functions and to enhance their diversity of thought, with 47% of our onsite consultants identifying as female. To date, 100% of the consultants who engaged in long-term engagements of 2+ years with Schroders have taken full-time positions to continue driving transformation across Schroders’ global divisions. The blended squads led by our experienced Kubrick Advanced team have been curated to deliver a specialised approach to handling data challenges within a large-scale cloud migration, harnessing both our Cloud Engineering and Data Product practices, and allow Schroders to retain junior team resource after the lifespan of the project for ongoing maintenance and development of the end solution.
