Kubrick partners with Women in Data to reunite members of the community at Kubrick HQ.
On November 25th, Kubrick HQ played host to an inspirational guest list of technology leaders and rising stars as the alumni of Women in Data’s annual Twenty in Data & Technology awards gathered together for the first time in over 20 months. The reception was the flagship event in this year’s jam-packed WiDWeek schedule of insightful webinars and panel events. It was delivered with the partnership of Kubrick and Snowflake, bringing together members of the WiD community from across the country to connect and celebrate their successes.
Kubrick Managing Partner Simon Walker supported the event as a partner of Women in Data and an ally, and had partaken in the WiDWeek panel event ‘The Importance of being an Ally’ the day before. Reflecting on the event, he said: “Our longstanding partnership with Women in Data means so much to me from both personally and as a business leader, so I jumped at the chance to show my gratitude by hosting the evening at Kubrick HQ. Having joined the first all-male panel in WiD Week’s history to discuss allyship, I wanted to ensure I was following my own advice: allyship requires action, not empty words. It was a privilege to use our space and platform to gather so many incredible figures in the data and technology world, the alumni of the Twenty in Data & Technology list and be able to share ideas. In the years to come, I look forward to seeing some of our Kubrick Alumni go on to join that list!”
The long-awaited reunion was organised by Women in Data Founder Roisin McCarthy with WiD Chair Payal Jain. Since the event, Roisin spoke on the importance of their partnership with Kubrick: “Women in Data recognise that futureproofing the workforce and ensuring next-generation data skills are widely accessible will play a vital role in solving the skills crisis. Kubrick’s mission firmly aligns with that of Women in Data, and we believe our collective action can drive change for women and minority communities across the globe, whilst creating clear economic advantage. In that way, we were thrilled to introduce our community to those who are shaping tomorrow with Kubrick and see the upcoming female and non-binary data leaders at Kubrick join in! It was already a special opportunity to get together with WiD members after the challenges of 2020 and 2021 and, given the new concerns which have arisen in the weeks after the event, we feel especially grateful to have been able to do so in a safe way.”
