Kubrick in partnership with an employee resource group dedicated to championing women in technology within the finance sector, hosted a series of events that were designed to inspire young women to pursue a career in tech.
This September saw the team travel across the country, including Edinburgh, Leeds, Bristol and London, in our ongoing mission to increase female representation in the industry.
Activities included thought provoking presentations, lightning talks, workshops, and networking opportunities that were designed to leave participants feeling empowered, educated, and inspired, bringing a community of like-minded women together. Colleagues from across the business took part to lend their voice and expertise for these important events. Topics ranged from what a career in data looks like, how to enter the industry and the importance of a diverse workforce within technology. At the London event, Kubrick's Principal Consultant Mirela Gyurova delivered an excellent talk on the importance of women in data and technology, tips for career pivoters, and shared their personal experiences of what it is like to be a female in the industry.
We were thrilled to not only take part in these events but be able to invite Data Solution Architect Vanessa Araujo, from our partner organisation Microsoft, along to the Bristol event. Vanessa gave a powerful and thought-provoking talk, giving participants first hand insight into her career. Alongside Vanessa, our consultants were on hand to give some practical advice for taking those next steps into the industry.
At Kubrick, we not only strive to bridge the skills gap in data and next-generation technology, but we are also committed to playing a key role in improving diversity in the tech industry. To that effect, we welcome candidates from all backgrounds, and particularly encourage applications from groups currently underrepresented in the industry, including women, people from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds, LGBTQ+ people, people with disability, and those who are neurodivergent. Alongside our involvement with these events, we are proud to be allies with a variety of organisations combating the gender divide in tech, including Women in Data®, STEM Women, Hire STEM Women, SheCanCode, and DiverseJobsMatter.
