If I left Kubrick before the contractual period was over, would I be expected to pay back the training costs?

When we hire people, we take on a sizeable risk as we train you at zero cost and pay you a full salary for the duration of your training. As a business, we do not see a ROI from that investment until a consultant has worked on client assignment for a significant period, hence the need for commercial protection.

In the event any consultant is unable to complete their 15-week training programme or 2 years of client engagements, we reserve the right to reclaim the cost of the training provided. The amount you are expected to repay is based on length of time since training. For instance, if you leave in months 0-12 after finishing training, the repayment is 100% of the total cost of training. If you leave in months 13-24, the repayment is 60% of the total cost.

However, we understand that colleagues leave training programmes for a wide variety of reasons, and we carefully assess every individuals’ circumstances before deciding whether or not to ask them to pay a portion of the costs related to the 15-weeks training they received. We also have 2-week “cooling off” period in our employment contracts, meaning that any consultant who leaves within the first 2 weeks of training is not required to repay any of the training agreement costs.

At the end of the two years, am I obligated to stay with the client on a permanent basis?

You are under no obligation to remain with your client after the contractual period.
