James joined Kubrick in January 2020 to develop and expand Kubrick’s machine learning expertise. He utilizes his extensive experience in education to deliver cutting-edge training in the intersection between research and development. He is passionate about the rapid evolution and acceleration of technological developments in data and AI, which he uses to ensure our training courses stay ahead of the curve – and our clients’ needs.
Prior to joining Kubrick, James was a Professor of Computer Science at Kingston University. His interests span several areas of machine learning, including computer vision and image processing, and he worked on a variety of innovative research projects, such as investigated sports and security video analysis, industrial inspection, video transmission, and encoding. He developed novel methods for detection, reidentification, and tracking, is credited with over 100 publications. Throughout his research, he developed his passion for teaching with programming and project management courses to large cohorts of undergraduate students. He also has experience as an onsite Machine Learning Consultant, which he utilises to shape his training in an agile environment.
James works at the fore of machine learning developments, staying tuned to the evolution of the skills that are most in demand. While adapting the Kubrick training programs to best-equip consultants for tomorrow’s challenges, he finds his work most rewarding when he can witness and encourage their professional and personal development in the training lab and onsite with our clients.
